2011 Year in Review
I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday and has also had time to relax and enjoy the season. It's time for my sometimes-dreaded year in review, so let's get down to business:
This year saw the realization of a few goals that I had never set:
Created a Facebook Fan page.
Got a great start on Pinterest.
Completely overhauled my website!
Started a regular monthly Studio Newsletter.
I had set a goal of tripling 2010's production of paintings. The number was set at 130, and somehow I have managed to come very close to meeting that goal with almost 120 paintings. So, I'm feeling pretty good about creating that many pieces! This feat of painting strength was due in part to my huge production of small paintings this year.
Send out a large (researched) mailing of brochure/cover letter packets.
This is a pesky goal that I never feel I am ready to meet. My work has been growing and changing rapidly throughout the year, and I am not in the right place to do a mass search for gallery representation through a brochure mailing. This gets pushed over to 2012....argh. I asked for a "quicker progression in my work" last year and I got it!
Send out emailed submissions from researched list.
Same goes for this goal. I fear the inconsistency and ever-changing nature in my work.
Update mailing list quarterly.
Check! I'm always super good about this.
Schedule at least 1 solo show for 2012.
Check! Annex Gallery, Charleston WV September-October. Also, as far as exhibitions for 2011, my solo show was displayed at The Slingluff Gallery (Philadelphia, PA) and at Redbrick Gallery (Martinsburg, WV). I participated in a three person show at Sleeth Gallery (Buckhannon, WV), and at two group shows at Annex Gallery! Toss in an Art Walk and I had a fairly busy schedule - Whew!
Have at least 100 large postcards ordered for April.
Check! I ordered plenty of postcards, and still have a bit left over as giveaways.
Have new brochure designed.
Finished! Derek has kindly updated my little brochure.
Have new brochure printed quarterly, as needed
Have 50 business cards printed, more as needed.
Redesigned and reprinted!
Update website at least once a week with new paintings and current events.
I think I have been fairly successful with this goal. Maybe I didn't update with a new painting each and every week, but I think I've done okay with updates in general.
Update blog at least once a week
I have been updating my blog usually from 1-3 times/week.
Update Etsy site weekly.
Enter 2 "good" juried shows within the year.
Overhaul my record-keeping system for inventory.
No. I hate to end the year-in-review on a negative. But I have not met this goal. So I will leave you with this, to lighten up the mood....
