I am currently not accepting commissions.  Thank you for your patience!

Do you like my work, but aren't seeing quite what you need?  Are you looking for a painting that conveys the right mood, incorporates a certain color, or simply just need a very specific size?  Commissioning a custom painting could be the right solution for you.

If you are interested in commissioning your own piece of original fine art, please see the instructions below.  It's easy to get an estimate!

THE PROCESS

  1. QUESTIONNAIRE  The first step is to complete the commission questionnaire and read through the Commission FAQs.  A few short questions provides me all the specifics of your request and allows me to work up an estimate for you to consider.  If possible, please attach images of your space where the painting will be installed with the questionnaire.  This is a big help!
  2. COST ESTIMATE & SCHEDULING You will receive your estimate via email.  If we agree to move forward, at this point I will invoice you via Paypal for the deposit payment (50% of the total cost not including shipping, nonrefundable), which puts your project on my schedule.  The wait time varies, typically 4-7 weeks - but we will work out any deadlines prior to invoicing.
  3. SMALL PAINTING STUDIES This is where the fun begins! I will complete & photograph 3-5 paintings on paper for you to review.  These little studies will convey the general composition and color arrangement, giving me a direction for your larger original.  This is the time when we work together on any adjustments that you would like.  I also complete color studies for you to approve at this point.
  4. YOUR ORIGINAL CANVAS  Once you feel good about the color choices/composition, I move on to your actual canvas.  There is a spontaneity and energy that goes into each piece, which gives your original a unique feel.  This also means the canvas will of course not be an exact match to the studies on paper, but will certainly be guided by them.  Once completed, official photos and detail shots are emailed.  After the painting has been approved, you are invoiced for the final cost (the final 50%, plus shipping) - then your painting gets securely packed & sent to you!

COMMISSION FAQs

  • MINIMUM ORDER There is a minimum order amount of $600.
  • TIME FRAME Once begun, commissioned paintings generally take 4-10 weeks for completion (includes the entire process outlined above).
  • REPLICATE A PAINTING? I like to ensure that each client's piece is unique, so I never set out to exactly replicate a specific painting. But I am happy to create a different version of an existing painting, that is similar yet unique!   Please bear in mind that exact color matching is not always possible with my technique.
  • PAINTINGS ON PAPER? I am not accepting commissions for works on paper at this time.
  • SHIPPING There are two options for shipping:
    • Stretched & boxed/crated.  Stretched pieces arrive wired and ready to hang, but extra large pieces need a custom crate built to ship them, increasing costs. See my FAQ section on shipping for more details.)
    • Unstretched & rolled using a tube & polymailer.  This method is used for extra large paintings,  to avoid the sometimes high cost of crated shipping. These pieces can be taken to a frame shop to restretch.
  • REFUNDS PT I You are under no obligation to purchase the painting if you aren't happy with the end result.  The invoice originally paid (50% of the total cost) can count towards store credit in my shop, but is nonrefundable.  Once the FINAL invoice (the last 50% of the total cost) is paid, no refunds, shop credit, or exchanges are given.
  • REFUNDS PT 2 If for any reason either party cancels the commission after the initial studies have been completed but before the canvas has been started, a partial refund of the Deposit Payment will be given.  This refund will be $100 minus the Deposit Payment amount.  This $100 fee covers my time consulting, creating, and materials used.
