About Lauren Batiste AdamsHello and welcome! I am an American abstract artist who creates paintings expressive, vibrant paintings inspired by the natural world. Often my work begins in an experience in nature or prompted by a line of writing. The creative process involves a balance of control and abandon, a play between the intentional and incidental. Letting one stroke of acrylic, mark of oil pastel or pour of paint to lead me intuitively to the next.
Living with one of my pieces brings a vibrant beauty and unique presence to your space. The paintings invite the viewer to the present moment, to experience their unfolding energy, paintings that vibrates with their own being. A bit of historyI am a graduate of Fairmont State University and West Virginia University, where I hold an Interdisciplinary BA in Studio Art/French and a BFA in Visual Art. While at FSU, I studied with acclaimed landscape painter Lynn Boggess and also met my future husband, Derek Overfield in figure drawing class. The time spent studying with Boggess instilled a deep appreciation for process and a strong work ethic, leading to several years of painting outdoors among the elements. That experience lends itself to the intensity and inspiration that I now draw on in the studio.
My work has been featured on blogs such as West Elm, HGTV, Elements of Style, and Kelly Market. I've collaborated with designers & brands like Crate & Barrel, created custom paintings for clients, and have works in both public & private collections including Kaiser Permanente, Emory Musculoskeletal Institute, Galleria Park Hotel (San Francisco), and the West Virginia State Museum. My husband and I live in a cozy 1930's house tucked into the hills of West Virginia. We partially renovated our home to fit in a studio for both of us to share, squeezed in with our two cats. |
Let me know if I can send you a monthly email from my studio
that keep you updated on my newest paintings and events!
